Our "Hanover Community Calendar" is populated with events submitted by you! This calendar highlights non-profit, special and neighbor events all across our area.

Hosting an event? If you, or an area organization, is hosting an event let us know. Event postings should follow these parameters:

    1. The event must take place within Hanover County OR be hosted by a Hanover Chamber member
    2. The event must be community focused and intended to provide support, fundraising, care or fun to area residents and chamber members
    3. Note this calendar is not intended for reoccurring seminars or group meetings, sales events or workshops given by individual for-profit companies

    When you submit events, please be sure to include the date, time, location/address, web link and an image or logo. Community calendar postings that fit our criteria will be made publicly visible on our website and in newsletters within a week of being sent to us; send events 4-6 weeks in advance for maximum exposure.       Ashland Theatre's Evening of Alzheimer’s Awareness

       Thursday August 21

      205 England Street, Ashland

       The Ashland Theatre is proud to announce an evening dedicated to raising awareness of the devastating impact of Alzheimer’s disease with a film screening followed by a Q&A in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association.  The event is generously sponsored by Hanover Manor. 

      The event, on Thursday August 21, will begin with a screening of the 2020 film, The Father, starring Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Coleman.  Hopkins was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of a man living with dementia. 

      Following the film, a representative from the Alzheimer’s Association will lead a panel discussion on the signs and impact of supporting someone with Alzheimer’s disease.  Patrons are encouraged to ask questions and share resources.   The full line-up of panelists will be announced soon.

      Tickets for the evening are on sale now.

      Harvest of Hope is a dinner fundraising event where guests will enjoy a delicious meal in an outdoor setting while enjoying a glass of wine or beer with wonderful music and friends. Come learn more about Hanover and King William Habitat's past year's accomplishments, hear from Habitat homeowners, and meet our community partners. We will also announce our Volunteer of the Year award. Money raised during this event will go directly to building affordable homes in Hanover and King William Counties.

      Tickets are $80 per person, with table and sponsorship options. Seating is limited. Advance ticket purchase is required and can be purchased online, by calling the administrative office at 804-569-6108 x103 or emailing Michele at mmccabe@hkwhabitat.org.

      Ms. Lucretia Davis will perform preceded by a military flag ceremony presented by the Mechanicville American Legion Post 175.  

      MCEF is Mechanicsville Churches Emergency Functions - provides rides for senior adults as well as food, clothing, linens, and financial assistance for rent & utilities to our neighbors in need since 1976!

      Suggestion donation: $5 & 2 cans/boxes of food/person

      8th Annual Mission Possible 5k & Festival

      Join us for a day of fun, fitness, and community at the 8th Annual Mission Possible 5K & Festival, hosted by New Song Church! This exciting event supports our ongoing mission work in the Dominican Republic and is perfect for participants of all ages and abilities.

      The 5K course begins and ends at New Song Church and winds through the Pebble Creek Subdivision. Whether you're an experienced runner or prefer a leisurely walk, everyone is welcome to take part. The event is family-friendly — strollers and leashed dogs are also invited!

      Medals will be awarded to the First, Second, and Third place finishers in each age category, for both males and females. Additional medals will be given to the Top Male and Top Female finishers. 

      After the race, stick around for the festival! Enjoy delicious food and coffee from local vendors, let the kids bounce out their energy on inflatables, and cheer them on during special children’s races. It’s a great day for the whole family, all in support of a great cause.

      Come run, walk, and celebrate with us — and help make a difference in the world!

      Hanover Ruritan Club and East Hanover Rescue Squad Blood Drive

       Saturday, September 13th

      8105 Walnut Grove Rd, Mechanicsville

      The Hanover Ruritan Club, East Hanover Rescue Squad, and American Red Cross are partnering together to host and sponsor a blood drive! The event, on Saturday, September 13th, will be held at the East Hanover Volunteer Rescue Squad building across from the Shalom Baptist Church.

      Limited parking will be available in the rear of the Rescue Squad gravel parking lot. Overflow parking is available across the street from the Rescue Squad at the church.

      They strongly encourage scheduling/reserving a slot ahead of time but walk-ins are accepted. If there are no open time-slots, you may be on standby for a possible cancellation.
